
Mughal road closed for vehicular traffic
The upper reaches of Kashmir experienced fresh snowfall on Saturday while the plains including Srinagar were lashed by rains, leading to closure of Mughal road.
A MeT official said fresh snowfall was recorded in upper higher reaches of Tulail and Razdan Top in Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora. The snowfall was also recorded along Peer Ki Gali in Shopian district in South Kashmir.
The Zojila Pass on Srinagar-Leh highway also witnessed fresh spell of snowfall. The upper reaches of Bhaderwah and Kishtwar also recorded fresh snowfall.
The plains including Srinagar and Jammu cities were lashed by rains.
A MeT official said in the past 24 hours, light to moderate rain lashed with thundershower at most places.
“Poonch, Baramulla, Samba, Jammu and Kathua recorded rainfall with gusty winds,” he said.
The MeT official said on June 1-2, there will be a brief spell of light rain and thundershowers at isolated places. “On June 4-6, the weather will be generally dry with a brief spell of rain and showers towards late afternoon at isolated places. On June 7-8, there will be a brief spell of rain and thundershowers at scattered places towards afternoon”.
“There is a possibility of landslides and mudslides at a few vulnerable places, and intense showers may generate flash floods at isolated places,” he said.
