Our food habits matter a lot in this context that for they determine what type of food we are used to.Taking over fatty food, consuming extra sugar quantity through soft drinks and tea etc. Taking over salty food and sour stuff like pickles etc surely damages our health. It causes acidity, IBS, fatty liver, Sugar, Diabetes etc. After a decade or two serious health concerns starts haunting us like ghost in the night hours.
World Health Day 2026, observed on 7 April, calls on people everywhere to stand with science .Under the theme “Together for health. Stand with science”, this year’s observance launches a year‑long campaign celebrating the power of scientific collaboration to protect the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet. The campaign spotlights both scientific achievements and the multilateral cooperation needed to turn evidence into action – through a strong focus on the One Health approach. Anchoring the 2026 campaign are two major global moments: the International One Health Summit (7 April), hosted by the Government of France under the French G7 Presidency, and the inaugural Global Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres (7–9 April), gathering nearly 800 scientific institutions from over 80 countries. Together, these events form the largest scientific network ever convened around a United Nations agency, underscoring how science‑driven partnerships can build a healthier, safer future for all.
On this World Health Day I just recall the idioms narrated by our teachers and elders like “Health is Wealth”, “If Health is lost, everything is Lost” and ironically often we used to memorize them for exam purpose, but not for health wellbeing. After reaching the maturity I could realize that it meant something else. And I remember the quote of Sheikh Saiydi Sheerazi(r.a) , “ Man is such a fool that he spends his whole life gaining wealth and then spends his wealth to regain health.” This wise saying is indicative of common man’s approach towards his health while earning wealth. We often tend to ignore our health while working in office, at shop, in fields, at business, at home etc. Various reasons that can be cited in this context are as follows:
Meals’ Routine
While we are at our work we often compromise with our meals routine and food standard. Often delay meals due to work load that ultimately results in the disturbance in our metabolism. The stomach is habitual of getting food at regular intervals, but when this routine is disrupted it starts functioning otherwise negatively. Because the body demand energy which comes from food. When the requirement is not fulfilled it starts consuming fats stored inside body. Consequently the body starts feeling weak and fatigued.
Food Habits

Teenage Perspectives
The youth indulges in some unscientific practices like masturbation, illegal sex during affairs or visiting brothels etc results in health damage to a larger extent. Medical survey reflects that 90% of youth are involved in such malpractices and when it comes to real life terms they face dangerous consequences like infertility, urinary tract infection and vaginal damage etc.
Married Context
Intensive and extreme sexual intercourse with partner results in weakness, fatigue and mental disturbance. Regular intervals in sexual intercourse with life partner is too beneficial and satisfactory, but irregular and consistent sexual intercourse results in various ailments like kidney problem, weak stamina, reduced mental ability etc. Continuous child birth is also one of the reasons of damaged health in respect of women. No doubt our religion doesn’t permit us stop this natural process, but we have also been guided how to maintain the standard of family. Gapless childbirth results in retardation in health of women folk. Sometimes due to complicacies deaths also occur. So child birth is to be regulated in order to ensure balanced health of our womenfolk.
Drug Addiction
Drug addiction is one of the heated debates of the current world. And it is often seen that a large number of youngsters are involved in drugs and narcotics etc. which results in severe health issues like mental imbalance, emotional disturbance, frustration etc. although govt. is showing her strong commitment to control the drug menace. But public also has to play her part.
Unemployment
Unemployment is one of the major causes of ill health. But it impacts only educated and unemployed youth who after passing 25 years in schools and colleges find themselves workless and get depressed that results in various ailments. Headache, Nausea, irritation, digestive problems etc.So to tackle this problem, we need to keep ourselves busy this way or that way. We must indulge in manual work as it relaxes body and mind. We must involve ourselves in sports and games, book reading, watching movies etc. above all we must prepare ourselves mentally that jobs are not available for everyone and should find our alternative ways to earn our livelihood.
Global Perspective
Global Perspective at global level we see that the most of the countries are running an armed race and some are indulged in active wars. World history is full of the evidences how wars have impacted the well being of common people for wars result is death and destruction. Wars results in food and medicine shortage. People are forced face starvation, deprivation, lack of health care etc which consequently results in health damage. Mental trauma and psychological imbalance are the worst effects of wars. Gertrude Stein is credited with coining the term "Lost Generation" to describe the disillusioned, disoriented, and wandering post-WWI generation of expatriate artists and writers in the 1920s. The term was popularized by Ernest Hemingway in his 1926 novel The Sun Also Rises. So at global level world leaders must acknowledge the fact that wars are not solution to any problems and in health perspective they must address the issue of global health problem. They must work for the betterment of nations for healthy nations are more worthy than wealthy nations.
In the conclusion let me say that our health is our property. It is our power, but only till we save and preserve it. Otherwise it becomes our greatest weakness and fallibility. Healthy person can work, enjoy, entertain, help and contribute. But an unhealthy person is burden on himself and on family. Hence it is quite apt to say that we are powerful only till we are healthy. Once it is lost everything is lost that we own comprising of material property, relations, friends and neighbors.
