Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha extended his congratulations to Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) for receiving the prestigious “Award of Excellence in Urban Transport” from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), recognizing Srinagar as the City with the Best Non-Motorized Transport System.
News agency KINS reported that, LG Sinha applauded SSCL’s efforts, noting, “SSCL’s dedication has transformed Srinagar into a model of eco-friendly urban development, showcasing its commitment to sustainable mobility and enhancing quality of life.” Under SSCL’s initiatives, the city has introduced extensive pedestrian-friendly zones, cycling lanes, and public spaces designed to reduce carbon emissions and improve accessibility.
The award highlights Srinagar’s strides in non-motorized transport, emphasizing the city’s focus on reducing vehicular pollution while promoting health, safety, and ease of mobility.
