Srinagar, Mar 24: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo, conducted an inspection of ongoing construction projects in Zewan and Panthachowk, focusing on the Migrant Transit Accommodation for PM Package employees and the new Revenue Complex for Tehsil Office Panthachowk.
Accompanied by senior officers from R&B, PDD, PHE, and Revenue departments, the DC reviewed progress at the transit accommodation site, which comprises 39 blocks with 936 flats. Officials informed him that 26 blocks (624 flats) are completed, six more blocks are ready, and the remaining seven blocks are expected to be finished by April 2026. Boundary walls and approach roads are nearing completion, with macadamization set to begin in early April. Electricity transformers have been installed, and water supply is functional. Installation of lifts in the blocks has also commenced.
The DC emphasized timely completion, instructing officers and executing agencies to expedite internal finishing and allied works while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.
At Panthachowk, Labroo inspected the new Tehsil Office complex, where around 80% of construction—including the Tehsildar’s Courtroom, Naib Tehsildar office, record room, and visitor waiting areas—has been completed. He directed the agency to accelerate work to ensure completion by April 2026, highlighting that the new facility will enhance public service delivery and provide a better working environment for staff.
Labroo stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among all departments to complete both projects within the stipulated timelines.
