Kohima, July 31: Assam Rifles, under the Spear Corps, organised a Community Health Awareness Programme at Tening village in Nagaland, promoting preventive healthcare, healthy living and awareness against drug abuse among local residents.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from villagers, including children, women and senior citizens, who attended awareness sessions and availed themselves of basic healthcare services provided by the medical team.
During the programme, Army medical personnel educated residents on the harmful effects of drug abuse, emphasizing the importance of early intervention, community support and a drug-free lifestyle. Participants were also sensitised about maintaining personal hygiene, balanced nutrition, regular physical activity and preventive healthcare practices to reduce the risk of common illnesses.
As part of the outreach initiative, the medical team provided basic health check-ups, primary healthcare support and distributed essential medicines to those in need. Residents were encouraged to seek timely medical attention and adopt healthy habits for improved well-being.
Officials said the initiative was aimed at strengthening public health awareness while enhancing the bond between the security forces and local communities. They reiterated the commitment of Assam Rifles to supporting the welfare of people in remote areas through regular civic action and healthcare programmes.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, during which villagers appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for extending healthcare services and spreading awareness in the region.
