Assam Rifles pays tribute to fallen hero

New Delhi, Aug 19: Director General of Assam Rifles Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, along with all ranks of the force, paid tribute to a brave soldier who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty on August 19, 1957.

The solemn remembrance marked the service and sacrifice of the fallen soldier, whose commitment to duty continues to remain part of the proud legacy of the Assam Rifles.
The force remembered the soldier with deep respect, honouring the courage and devotion to duty displayed in the face of challenging circumstances. The supreme sacrifice made 69 years ago continues to serve as a reminder of the risks undertaken by personnel while carrying out their responsibilities in difficult operational environments.
Lt Gen Lakhera and personnel across the Assam Rifles paid homage to the fallen comrade, reaffirming that the sacrifices of those who laid down their lives in service of the nation will always be remembered.
The tribute also underscored the Assam Rifles' longstanding tradition of honouring its fallen personnel and preserving their legacy for succeeding generations.
