Srinagar, Sep 21: Security and traffic arrangements have been intensified around the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and Civil Secretariat in Srinagar ahead of the Autumn Session beginning Monday.

Authorities have introduced enhanced security measures and regulated vehicle movement around the Assembly complex and Civil Secretariat to ensure the smooth conduct of the seven-sitting session.

The General Administration Department has issued specific directions regarding vehicle entry and parking during the session. As per Circular No. 19-JK(GAD) of 2026, private vehicles belonging to Civil Secretariat and Assembly employees, including police personnel deployed on security duties, will not be permitted inside the Secretariat premises.

Vehicles of the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, ministers, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Speaker and legislators will be parked at designated locations within the Assembly Complex.

Vehicles of accredited media personnel will be permitted to enter the Civil Secretariat after necessary security checks. Escort vehicles have been directed to use the designated parking area at Kashmir Haat.

The Assembly session is scheduled to run from September 21 to 30 and will have seven sittings. September 23 will be observed as a holiday on account of the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh, while September 26 is an off day and September 27 is Sunday.

Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather recently reviewed security, traffic and transport arrangements with senior officials. He directed the concerned authorities to ensure adequate security arrangements at the Assembly Secretariat and MLA Hostel.

The session will open with obituary references, followed by Question Hour and other scheduled legislative business.
