Ganderbal, October 1: The Central University of Kashmir has attached a professor to its main campus and removed him from the post of Head of the Department of Chemistry following a complaint submitted by students alleging harassment and the use of abusive language.
Registrar of the Central University of Kashmir, Prof Nisar Ahmad Mir, said the university took cognizance of the matter after students staged a protest at the Nunnar campus and submitted a complaint against Professor Bhaskar, who was heading the Chemistry Department.
The Registrar said the professor has been attached to the university's main campus and relieved of his administrative responsibilities pending an inquiry into the allegations.
The development followed a protest by students from different campuses at the Nunnar campus on Thursday. The students raised allegations concerning the professor's conduct and accused him of using inappropriate and abusive language and harassing students.
Following the complaint, the university administration constituted an internal inquiry committee to examine the allegations and determine the facts of the matter.
The Registrar said further action would be taken after the inquiry committee submits its findings.
The allegations against the professor have not been independently established and remain subject to the outcome of the ongoing inquiry.
