To strengthen the existing framework and address the pitfalls of Human Trafficking in the digital era, Crime Branch Headquarters J&K in collaboration with MHA, GOI conducted a UT level conference on Anti Human Trafficking today at Tagore Hall, Srinagar. The aim of the conference was to make students in particular and the public in general aware about the danger of Human trafficking and its social impact.
Sh. S.J.M Gillani- IPS Special DG Coordination PHQ J&K was the Chief Guest who in his address impressed upon the participants/ stakeholders to come together to curb the menace of Human Trafficking. He said that human trafficking is a serious threat not only to individual victims but also to the security, dignity, and social fabric of the nation, and addressing it requires a shift in focus from traditional notions to human security. He emphasized that protecting vulnerable persons and communities from exploitation is essential for the nation and called for collective action against the root causes of trafficking.
Sh. Alok Kumar, ADG Fire & Emergency Services, J&K, in his address, highlighted the importance of awareness in combating this heinous organised crime. He stressed on the need for community involvement and emphasised the use of social media platforms to spread awareness on large scale. He also emphasized the significance of exemplary investigations to ensure that the guilty are brought to justice.
While welcoming the guests to the programme, the IGP (Crime) Sh. Sujit Kumar stated that it has been the constant endeavour of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, to organize initiatives focused on combating human trafficking. This particular programme brings together members of the legal fraternity, social organizations, enforcement agencies, and other government bodies in a united effort against this grave issue. He expressed hope that the programme would be of benefit to the younger generation and inspire them to contribute meaningfully to the cause.
Sh. Rajesh Mani Expert trainer, Human Trafficking, Consultant, India for children and Sh. Ravi Kant, Advocate Supreme Court of India, Founder Shakti Vahini and National Convener, Just Rights for Children, who participated in the conference put their valuable points/suggestions through lectures/ PPTs to break all shackles of human trafficking. The conference provided a platform for stakeholders who shared their experience and expertise in combating human trafficking and identify effective strategies to prevent and support victims.
Mementoes were presented to the Chief Guest and other speakers. At the end of the Conference, Sh. Mohammad Fiesel Qureshi, SSP, SO to IGP Crime presented vote of thanks to the all guests and participants.
