DGP J&K Reviews Security Arrangements For Eid Milad-un-Nabi, Other Upcoming Events

Srinagar, Aug 25: Director General of Police, J&K, Nalin Prabhat, IPS, on Tuesday chaired a security review meeting at Police Control Room Kashmir to assess preparedness for the upcoming Eid Milad-un-Nabi and other events across the Union Territory.

The meeting was attended by Special DGP Coordination J&K, IGP Kashmir Zone, IGP Jammu Zone, all Range DIGs, District SSPs and other senior police officers.

Detailed discussions were held on security preparedness, deployment strategy, crowd management and traffic regulation measures for the peaceful conduct of Eid Milad-un-Nabi-related events, Friday prayers and Raksha Bandhan celebrations.

The DGP stressed heightened vigilance, proactive policing and robust security arrangements, particularly at major shrines, mosques and other religious places. Special focus was placed on Dargah Hazratbal and other prominent religious sites where nightlong prayers and large gatherings are expected.

Officers were directed to ensure adequate security coverage, close coordination among field formations and a swift response to any emerging situation.

The DGP also directed officers to strengthen surveillance at sensitive and vulnerable locations and ensure effective deployment at strategic and high-footfall areas. He stressed the need for effective traffic regulation and route management plans around major religious places and along procession routes.

Reviewing arrangements for Raksha Bandhan, the DGP directed officers to make advance security and traffic arrangements at markets and temples.

The meeting concluded with directions to ensure that all necessary security and traffic arrangements are put in place well in advance for the peaceful and secure conduct of upcoming events.
