Srinagar, Sep 17: Eight labourers sustained injuries after a Tata Mobile vehicle collided with an electric pole in the Pirbagh area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Thursday. Three of the injured are stated to be in critical condition.

According to reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle before it crashed into the electric pole. The injured were subsequently shifted to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for treatment.

The injured have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad, 27, son of Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Kupwara, who was driving the vehicle and is stated to be critical.

Others include Nair Ahmad Kumar, 19, son of Wali Mohammad, a resident of Kupwara, and Ajaz Ahmad Sheikh, 26, son of Buland Sheikh, a resident of Lolab, Kupwara. Both are reported to be stable.

Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, 16, son of Mohammad Yousuf, a resident of Beerwah, Budgam, and Tanveer Ahmad Khan, 19, son of Ghulam Hussain Rubani, a resident of Kupwara, are among those reported to be in critical condition.

The remaining injured have been identified as Shahmeem Ahmad Khan, 25, son of Dilawar Ahmad, a resident of Kupwara, Mohammad Qasim Sheikh, 27, son of Noor Din Sheikh, a resident of Lolab, Kupwara, and Kaisar Ahmed Teli, 19, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Kupwara. Shahmeem Ahmad Khan and Kaisar Ahmed Teli are stated to be stable.

Further details regarding the cause of the accident and any police action were not immediately available.
