Baramulla, Aug 28: A man was detained after two hand grenades were allegedly recovered from his possession during a joint naka checking operation at Wussan Bangil in the Kunzer area of Baramulla district on Friday.

The operation was conducted by a joint team of Police Station Kunzer, SOG Kunzer, CRPF 176 Battalion and the Army’s 2 Rashtriya Rifles.

Officials said security personnel were checking vehicles and pedestrians when the suspect allegedly tried to escape after noticing the checking party. He was intercepted and detained at the spot.

The individual was identified as Shakir Nabi Lone, a resident of Hardu Aboora, Kunzer.

During a search, two hand grenades were allegedly recovered from his possession.

Police subsequently registered FIR No. 115/2026 at Police Station Kunzer under relevant provisions of law.

Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the recovery and determine the possible source and intended use of the recovered items.
