The All India Medical Students’ Association (AIMSA) maintained that the agitation would continue until the government issued a written order, stating that verbal assurances alone would not be sufficient to end the protest.
AIMSA representatives Dr Danish Ali and Dr Farhan from GMC Srinagar, along with Dr Jabran Khan from GMC Rajouri, reiterated the association’s position and said the interns would remain firm on their demand until official confirmation was provided.
The association disclosed that its Joint Secretary, Dr Akib Javid, had received a telephone call from the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) on Tuesday regarding the proposed stipend increase. However, AIMSA said the communication could not be considered a substitute for a formal government order.
AIMSA President Dr Mohammad Momin Khan said repeated delays and assurances had weakened the interns’ confidence in verbal commitments. He reiterated that the association would continue supporting the interns’ demand until the government formally notified the stipend hike.
The association urged the Jammu and Kashmir government to complete the pending formalities at the earliest and honour its commitment to MBBS and BDS interns.
AIMSA said the protest would remain peaceful and continue across government medical colleges and SKIMS Medical College, Bemina, until a written order addressing the stipend hike was issued.
