J&K hosts cybersecurity workshop to boost digital resilience across departments

Srinagar, June 17: The Department of Information Technology, Government of Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) and the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, organized a two-day state-level workshop titled “CCMP Workshop and Cybersecurity Exercise” at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, on June 16–17, 2025.

The workshop aimed to enhance cyber resilience across Union Territory departments by equipping senior officials—including Administrative Secretaries, Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs), Information Security Officers (ISOs), and nodal officers—with essential cybersecurity knowledge and crisis response strategies.

The inaugural session was graced by Shri Satish Sharma, Hon’ble Minister for Information Technology, J&K, who emphasized the urgent need for cybersecurity in modern governance and hailed the event as a vital step in ensuring secure citizen services.

Dr. Piyush Singla, IAS, Secretary, IT Department, welcomed the participants, stressing that robust cybersecurity is not merely a technical necessity but a cornerstone of public trust and good governance.

Shri Saurabh Bhagat, IAS, Commissioner/Secretary, FCS&CA, delivered the keynote address, highlighting the evolving cyber threat landscape and the need for preventive strategies and inter-departmental collaboration. He encouraged officers to become proactive cyber defenders.

The workshop featured interactive presentations, expert-led discussions, and hands-on simulation exercises to strengthen departmental preparedness. Topics included threat identification, cyber response planning, and implementation of the Cyber Crisis Management Plan (CCMP).

The valedictory session was addressed by Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General, CERT-In, who commended participants and emphasized shifting from reactive to proactive cybersecurity. He urged departments to conduct regular drills and integrate with national CERT-In programs for ongoing cyber capacity building.

Dr. Piyush Singla delivered the closing remarks, and the vote of thanks was presented by Ms. Mahima Madan, IAS, CEO, JaKeGA.

This initiative aligns with the goals of Digital India, addressing the urgent need for secure digital infrastructure while reinforcing citizen confidence in government IT systems.
