
The Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization organized Export Awareness cum E-Commerce On-boarding drive as per the scheduled activities for the year 2025-26.
The workshop, organized in collaboration with the District Administration Srinagar, One District One Product (ODOP) Team, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) and GeM, aims to empower local MSMEs, artisans and SHGs, entrepreneurs by providing them with vital knowledge about export schemes and benefits of digital commerce.
Speaking on the occasion, General Manager JKTPO, Shahid Ali Beigh emphasized on the pivotal role of JKTPO in organizing the district-level workshop aimed at promoting ODOP sellers and their facilitation on e-commerce platform.
Senior Consultant GeM, Maqbool Shah, in his address briefly explained working of GeM Portal, documents required for registration and benefits which could be leveraged by the Sellers after getting themselves on-boarded on the said portal.
Business Development Consultant, APEDA, Dr.Azra Mufti, gave insights about role of APEDA for export promotion of agri-products to other countries and documents required for registration with APEDA.
More than 120 Artisans, Exporters and FPOs of Srinagar district attended the workshop. They actively engaged in discussions and showed a keen interest for on-boarding their products on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) platform.
This initiative is part of JKTPO’s ongoing efforts to promote exports from all districts of Jammu & Kashmir under the District as Export Hub Scheme and the ODOP initiative. The event aimed to connect local producers and artisans with national and international markets through digital platforms and to get well acquainted with different schemes of the Centre and State Governments.
Similar workshops are planned across the Union Territory to further strengthen the export ecosystem and empower local entrepreneurs to explore global trade opportunities. Expert-led sessions covered a wide range of topics including benefits of exports, branding local products for international markets, export financing options and credit risk insurance schemes to safeguard exporters.
Pertinently, Srinagar district is renowned worldwide for its high-quality Kashmiri silk Carpet, Papier Machie, Walnut Wood Carvings and Silk Carpets have been identified under ODOP by district Administration Srinagar and Handicrafts Department.
Besides Assistant Director Handicrafts Srinagar, other officers of district administration and other concerned departments were present on the occasion.
