Srinagar, Oct 12: The Centre for Women’s Studies and Research (CWSR) at the University of Kashmir (KU) held a day-long programme at the Main Campus to mark the International Day of the Girl Child. School students from Class 8 onwards, teachers and University faculty members took part in discussions on girls’ rights, education and well-being.
The programme gave students an opportunity to learn about issues affecting their lives, share their views and take part in conversations about their rights and future.
In her presidential address Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof Nilofer Khan, said every girl should have equal opportunities to learn, grow and realise her potential. She stressed the need for girls to feel safe, confident and supported as they pursue their aspirations.
“Empowering every girl through education and equal opportunities is essential for building a more inclusive and progressive society,” she said.
