SSB DG Reviews Security Arrangements at Pantha Chowk Yatri Transit Camp

Srinagar, July 17: Director General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) Sanjay Singhal visited the Yatri Transit Camp at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar to assess security arrangements and operational preparedness for the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.

Singhal was received by 40 Battalion SSB Commandant Yetan Negi, Srinagar SSP Dr G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy and senior officers from the police, security forces and civil administration.

During the inspection, the SSB chief reviewed the camp infrastructure, including the registration centre and RFID counters. He assessed the systems in place for smooth pilgrim registration, movement monitoring and security management.

Singhal also visited the Joint Police Control Room and CRPF Command Post to review integrated security arrangements, surveillance and area domination measures deployed for the annual pilgrimage.

He inspected the community kitchen and personally reviewed the quality, hygiene and nutritional standards of the food being served to pilgrims.

The DG later visited the Tactical Headquarters of 40 Battalion SSB and interacted with officers and personnel during a Sainik Sammelan. He praised the force personnel for their professionalism, dedication and commitment towards ensuring the peaceful conduct of the Yatra.

As part of an environmental initiative, Singhal also participated in a plantation drive at the SSB campus. He later held an informal interaction with troops and discussed their operational needs and welfare concerns.

The SSB chief expressed satisfaction over the coordination among various security agencies and appreciated the alertness and preparedness of personnel deployed for the pilgrimage.
