The issue has become particularly noticeable at the Mehjoor Nagar branch in Srinagar, where customers said limited staffing has led to lengthy queues, delays in transactions and considerable inconvenience for account holders. According to customers, the problem is not limited to one branch, with similar manpower shortages reportedly affecting branches across the Union Territory.
A customer, Gowhar Hussain, said the shortage of employees has slowed down the day-to-day functioning of the branch.
He said customers are being forced to spend considerable time waiting, even for routine banking services, due to the limited number of staff available to handle the workload.
Customers stated that the pressure on existing employees has affected the efficiency and speed of services, particularly during busy hours. They said people often have to wait for extended periods for cash-related transactions, passbook updates, account services and other routine banking formalities.
The customers have urged the management of Jammu & Kashmir Bank to take immediate steps to address the manpower shortage, including deploying additional staff at branches with high customer footfall and filling vacant positions.
They expressed hope that the bank authorities would take prompt corrective measures to improve service delivery, reduce waiting times and ease the workload on existing employees.
