Handwara, October 11: Two persons were killed and four others injured after an Alto car collided head-on with a motorcycle in the Nelipora Magam area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday evening.

The deceased have been identified as Tahir Ahmad and Mohammad Aamir, both residents of Salkoot village in Kupwara district, according to reports.

Officials said the accident occurred when an Alto car bearing registration number JK05A-9562 collided with a motorcycle bearing registration number JK09E-8313. The impact proved fatal for two persons, reportedly travelling on the motorcycle, who died at the scene.

Four other persons sustained injuries in the incident and were shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara for treatment.

Police have taken cognisance of the accident, while further details regarding the circumstances leading to the collision are awaited.

The condition of the injured and any subsequent developments in the investigation were not confirmed in the latest reports available.
