
Shopian, August 6: Shopian Police have registered two criminal cases over the alleged bursting of firecrackers during wedding celebrations in violation of prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate.
According to officials, separate FIRs numbered 148/2026 and 151/2026 were lodged at Police Station Shopian after fireworks were reportedly used during marriage functions despite the ban imposed by the district administration. Investigations into both cases are underway.
Police said the prohibition on the use of firecrackers, issued through an order by the District Magistrate, remains in force and must be strictly observed.
The police also warned that anyone found violating the restrictions would face legal action and urged the public to comply with the orders while organising weddings and other social gatherings.
