Kohima, July 13: Havildar Mohd Iqbal of the Assam Rifles laid down his life in the line of duty in Nagaland on Monday, the force announced while paying tribute to the soldier's sacrifice.

In a statement, Director General of Assam Rifles Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, along with all ranks of the force, expressed profound grief over the loss and conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Paying homage to the fallen soldier, the Assam Rifles said Havildar Iqbal exemplified courage, dedication and an unwavering commitment to the nation. The force described his sacrifice as a reflection of the highest traditions of military service.

The Assam Rifles did not disclose the operational circumstances surrounding the incident. However, officials reaffirmed the force's commitment to safeguarding national security and maintaining peace and stability across the Northeast.

Senior officers and personnel paid floral tributes to the fallen soldier, remembering his dedication, professionalism and selfless service.
