Experts requests parents to observe CAB; vaccinate children from 15-18 age group

January 11, 2022 | BK News Service

Head of Pediatrics Department, SMGS Hospital Jammu, Dr GS Saini has urged parents to get their children between the age of 15 to 18 vaccinated at the earliest.
He informed that the dose of vaccine can be had from selected schools, special vaccination camps and other vaccination centres as well.
Dr Saini has warned the public that the Omicron variant of the virus has been observed to be five to seven times more infectious than the previous Delta variant. Covid vaccine and Covid appropriate behaviour are the simplest ways to protect oneself and one’s family from the virus, he advices.
‘The HoD requests adults to keep observing Covid appropriate behaviour religiously to prevent contracting the virus to the young ones at their homes. ‘I request everybody, who has got fully vaccinated since the past 9 months or more, to get the third dose as ‘precaution dose’. It has been observed that the resistance against Covid-19 virus and its variants increase four folds among those who have received the third dose’, informed Dr Saini. He also suggests avoiding unnecessary gathering and travel to prevent chance of further spread of the Omicron variant.
Regarding the precaution dose, Dr Saini informed that it can be received at any vaccination centre on producing a proof of identity, along with vaccination certificate of the previous doses.
