
Srinagar, Sep 08: President Droupadi Murmu has entrusted Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena with the additional responsibility of discharging the functions of the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir during the absence of incumbent LG Manoj Sinha, who has proceeded on leave.
According to an official communiqué issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan, Saxena will perform the duties of the J&K Lieutenant Governor in addition to his existing responsibilities as LG of Ladakh until Sinha resumes office.
Saxena assumed charge as the fourth Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh on March 13, 2026, following his tenure as Lieutenant Governor of Delhi from 2022 to 2026.
Manoj Sinha took charge as the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir on August 7, 2020. The office of Lieutenant Governor is held at the pleasure of the President and does not have a fixed tenure.
The duration of Sinha’s leave has not been disclosed so far.
