
Ganderbal, Apr 15: Department of Kashmiri, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) organized a one-day academic planning workshop at Tulmulla campus here Wednesday which was aimed at strengthening curriculum development, research initiatives, and overall academic excellence.
Noted writers of Kashmiri Language, Literary Figures, Linguistic experts and Faculty members from various colleges attended the event which was chaired by Prof. Muhammad Zaman Azurdah, former Dean Faculty of Arts, University of Kashmir.
In his welcome address, Prof.Shad Ramzan, HoD, Kashmiri Deptt, highlighted the importance of structured academic planning in enhancing the quality of higher education. “Emphasis is being laid on aligning departmental goals with national education policies and emerging academic trends.” He expressed gratitude to Vice-Chancellor, Prof.A Ravinder Nath, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof.Shahid Rasool and Dean School of Languages Prof.Sandhya Tiwari for their constant support and encouragement in organizing the workshop.
During the workshop, detailed discussions were held on revising the existing syllabus to make it more inclusive, skill-oriented, and relevant to contemporary needs. Experts shared valuable suggestions regarding the incorporation of modern teaching methodologies, use of digital tools, and promotion of interdisciplinary approaches to make it more relevant. They put forward their suggestions and stressed the need to encourage collaborative projects, increase publication output, and engage scholars in culturally significant and translation work related to the Kashmiri language and literature.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Shahid Rasool stressed upon usage of Kashmiri language and making it more learner-centric. “Initiatives, including mentorship programs, career guidance, and the organization of seminars and literary activities should be taken to foster intellectual growth among students.”
In the concluding session, a comprehensive academic roadmap was drafted, outlining short-term and long-term goals for the department.
