
Ganderbal, Apr 15: To pay glowing tributes to the architect of the Indian Constitution, the Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kashmir (CUKashmir) organized a gruelling 15-hour study activity (in parts) on Tuesday to commemorate the 135th Birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The session, which commenced at the break of dawn at 5:00 AM and concluded at 11:50 PM, saw a dedicated group of 12 students joining the HoD, Dr. Haribhau R Bhapkar, for an on-campus vigil, while 52 other students participated online.
Vice Chancellor, Prof. A. Ravinder Nath, appreciated the activity, noting that CUKashmir is deeply committed to organizing programs that challenge traditional boundaries. He remarked that this "academic endurance" perfectly embodies Babasaheb’s guiding principle: “Educate, Agitate, Organize.”
The initiative was also appreciated by Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean Academic Affairs, Dr. Nisar Ahmad Mir, Registrar, and Prof. C. Naseema, I/c Controller of Examinations, along with other faculty members.
On the occasion, Dr. Haribhau R Bhapkar emphasized that the activity was designed to foster a generation that is "ethically strong, mentally alert, and academically enlightened." Addressing the participants, he stated: "To achieve the vision of 'Viksit Bharat @2047', our students must transition from passive learners to disciplined intellectuals. This 15-hour session is not just about Mathematics; it is about building the mental strength and ethical character required to lead a developed India."
He added that such academic exercises are essential for the "all-round development" of students, ensuring they are prepared to face global challenges while staying rooted in social responsibility.
