New Delhi, July 17: The Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organisation (JKTPO) showcased the Union Territory's rich handloom, handicraft and textile heritage at Bharat Tex 2026, held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from July 14 to 17.
Around 20 exhibitors from Jammu and Kashmir participated at the J&K Pavilion, displaying a wide range of traditional and contemporary products, including GI-tagged Pashmina and Kani shawls, Kashmiri carpets, Pashmina rugs, wool stoles, scarves, chain-stitch rugs and handcrafted bags.
The exhibition provided artisans, weavers, cooperatives and MSMEs an opportunity to connect with domestic and international buyers, exporters, retailers and sourcing agencies, generating significant business enquiries and export prospects.
A key highlight was the visit of New Zealand's Minister for Rural Communities, Mark Patterson, along with senior officials and industry representatives, who appreciated the craftsmanship and explored opportunities for collaboration in the wool and textile sector.
JKTPO said participation in such global platforms helps promote GI-tagged products, expand export markets, strengthen sustainable livelihoods and position Jammu and Kashmir as a leading destination for premium handloom and handicraft products. Throughout the four-day event, the J&K Pavilion attracted strong buyer interest, opening new avenues for trade and international partnerships.
