
Kupwara, Jan 28: Security forces recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a Cordon and Search Operation in the Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Wednesday.
The operation, conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Police Karnah in coordination with the Indian Army, took place in the forest area of Rati Tari in Sector Taad Karnah. Officials said the joint team seized four Chinese pistols, seven pistol magazines, three AK magazines, 308 rounds of AK-47 ammunition, and a sniper sight.
The recovered weapons were reportedly concealed for potential use in militant activities. Police have registered the recovery in connection with the operation, and further investigation is underway to trace the source and intended use of the arms.
Searches in surrounding areas have been intensified, and security forces continue to maintain heightened vigilance in the Karnah sector to prevent infiltration and dismantle militant networks near the Line of Control
