
Baramulla, August 10: Baramulla Police have booked and seized eight vehicles during separate enforcement operations against alleged illegal mining in Delina, Kunzer and Chandoosa areas of the district.
The action was carried out under provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act as authorities stepped up efforts to curb unauthorised extraction and transportation of minerals.
According to officials, the vehicles were intercepted during operations conducted at the three locations and were subsequently booked or seized for allegedly violating mining regulations.
The crackdown comes amid concerns over unauthorised mining and its potential impact on riverbeds, waterways and other natural resources.
Police said enforcement measures against illegal mining will continue and warned that vehicles found involved in violations will be dealt with under the applicable law.
