Pulwama, Dec 3: A black bear was tranquilised by the Wildlife Department in Auligund village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district after it was spotted near a graveyard, sparking panic among locals.
The bear had taken shelter in a cave near the burial ground, prompting residents to alert authorities. Initially, the Wildlife team was engaged in another operation in Mandora village and could not respond immediately. However, following growing concern from locals, a team was dispatched, and the bear was successfully tranquilised after a brief operation.
Officials said the heavily built animal had strayed from nearby forested areas in search of food. “After medical observation, the bear will be released back into its natural habitat,” an official added.
