DC Srinagar, SMC Commissioner review winter preparedness in district

Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo and Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Faz Lul Haseeb Wednesday chaired a joint meeting of District/Sectoral Officers of all line Departments at Meeting Hall of the DC Office to review the overall winter preparedness measures in Srinagar District.

The meeting focused on ensuring that all line departments have comprehensive and coordinated plans in place to deal with snowfall, frost, waterlogging and unhindered supplies and essentials across Srinagar District.

The DC and Commissioner stressed the need for a robust mechanism to ensure swift snow clearance, particularly along major roads, inner lanes and critical service points including roads leading to hospitals, emergency service stations and vital installations.

The Officers were directed to plan proactively and develop a coordinated and strategic approach for snow clearance in both urban and rural roads. Emphasis was laid on the deployment of essential machinery and fully utilization of resources to ensure prompt road clearance and restoration of connectivity.

The DC also instructed Officers from Departments of MED, R&B, SMC and PMGSY ensure all necessary machinery and manpower is kept in ready state to clear snow from all main roads, especially for emergency services viz hospitals,vital installations, besides inner lanes and bylanes across the district.

Instructions were also given to maintain power, water, and essential supplies and to ensure that adequate stocks of essential commodities are available.

Furthermore, the DC and SMC Commissioner directed for establishing a special district level Control Room for coordination among departments and redressal of public grievances.

Both officers directed close inter-departmental coordination, round-the-clock control room functioning, and prompt response systems to address public grievances during winter emergencies. They emphasized proactive planning, timely deployment of men and machinery, and effective communication to ensure the smooth functioning of essential services.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aadil Fareed; Joint Commissioner SMC, Nuzhat Khurshid; SP Headquarter, Umar Shah; Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar; SDM East, SDM West, Superintending Engineers, ASP Traffic Police, Director IMD Srinagar, Executive Engineers and District/Sectoral Officers of various Departments.
