NHM Employees Extend J&K Strike by 72 Hours From September 12

September 11, 2026 | BK NEWS SERVICE

Srinagar, September 11: The National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA) has extended its ongoing strike across Jammu and Kashmir by another 72 hours, citing the government’s failure to address their long-pending demands.

The association said the strike, which was scheduled to conclude, will now continue from September 12, 2026. The decision was conveyed to the Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K.

According to the association, the extension was decided due to the non-fulfilment of their demands and the absence of any concrete, time-bound assurance from the authorities.

The employees reiterated that their protest would remain peaceful, democratic and constitutional, with participants directed to maintain discipline and public order.

The association said it had formally informed the authorities in advance for necessary action and expressed willingness to engage in dialogue to resolve the matter.

It urged the government to take meaningful and time-bound steps to address the grievances of NHM employees.

The association also said it would review its course of action based on the government’s response and may extend or modify the agitation if necessary.
