India, as one of the most stable nations and one of the world's largest growing economies, must showcase solidarity with Pakistan as neighbour. This is what I suggest based on the historical background and present status of India at the global level.
Before Pakistan showcases solidarity with Jammu and Kashmir, they must examine their own standing at national and international levels. The condition of Pakistan as a country is deteriorating day by day. I am not against any country; we must respect every country with its preamble and dignity. Before they show solidarity with us, we must convey to them that Jammu and Kashmir has completely transformed, from dusk to dawn, from bloodshed to life, from turmoil to peace, from terrorism to mainstream, and from radicalization to education. I personally invite the intellectuals of Pakistan, or those who show solidarity with us, to please come and visit our Kashmir. Here, you will find peace of mind. You will not find violations, but hustle and bustle on every road and in every home. Don’t make it cry again.
India, as one of the most stable nations and one of the world's largest growing economies, must showcase solidarity with Pakistan as neighbour. This is what I suggest based on the historical background and present status of India at the global level. Instead, we must look at Kashmir at a glance and its part, PoK, in its worst position, and reaching out to them is our sole responsibility. Let Pakistan fulfil their basic needs, for which they are protesting daily. The world knows the crisis in Pakistan and its illegal occupation of PoK.
So then, Pakistan’s Solidarity Day for Jammu and Kashmir has become irrelevant today. Pakistan must understand that the world is changing, and so is Kashmir. All those agents of turbulence have joined the mainstream; Hurriyat is no more, Jammat-e-Islami has fought elections, Mir Waiz Umeer Farooq of Hurriyat M has erased his nameplate as its chairman, others are in jail, and the youth have returned to schools, which are functioning without hartals or strikes. Tourism, economy, growth, engagement, and employment are a hundred times better than Pakistan’s. Whom will Pakistan have solidarity with? The question is for Pakistan.
India like a responsible nation and upholder of human values should urge international community to look at the context in light of atrocities of people in POJK. They are suffering from food crises, lack of schooling, poverty, violations, disappearances, unemployment, and terrorism. They want civil rule, democracy, a probe, a government, and to be free from military rule. This is not only for India or Jammu and Kashmir; this is for Pakistan. Day in and day out, the crisis in Pakistan is being monitored, and human rights violations in PoK need to be sorted out by the international communities.
The reality is very bitter, but Pakistan must realize it today; tomorrow it will be very late. You cannot show your power through terrorizing people; there are other ways of becoming a powerful nation. If Pakistan follows them, first and foremost, it has to disband violence and disturbance in Pakistan, PoK, and Balochistan. The situation at home is very bad, so one can’t lecture others. The routine protests against human rights abuses and daily facilities have become worse. If you are not ready to act in PoK, please hand it over to India and merge it with its own part, Jammu and Kashmir, instead of behaving towards them with stepmotherly behaviour.
Now, lets not focus Jammu and Kashmir, lets focus PoK which is engulfed with violence, victimization, and turmoil, deeply affecting its people. The region faced unending political repression, military governance, and systematic human rights violations under the heavy surveillance and control of Pakistan’s military and intelligence agencies. The people of PoK live under constant oppression, with institutions monitored and dissent brutally suppressed. Those who speak out against the army or ISI often disappear without a trace, victims of enforced disappearances and state violence.
Ironically, what solidarity will Pakistan hold when solidarity is needed every day in Pakistan? The illegal activities in Pakistan are not only surprising but are also eroding and digging graveyards. Pakistan have stolen every natural source amd minerals from the resident PoK. The continuous protests, the dissatisfaction of youth, and the lack of political and social participation, along with the constitutional setup dominated by the so called Azad Jammu & Kashmir Council controlled from Islamabad, marginalize local decision-making and democratic rights, fostering resentment and a sense of injustice. Despite the façade of autonomy, PoK’s governance is controlled by Pakistan’s military establishment, leaving the people without true sovereignty or political freedom.
The rights of the common people in Pakistan in general, and PoK in particular, are never truly enjoyed by the general population. More or less, the elite in Pakistan live outside the country due to its unauthorized weaponry, and the army has entered every institution, making it one of the most militarized countries in the world. Pakistan’s plans and sympathies are becoming exposed day by day in Kashmir. This reality has been known to every Kashmiri for the last thirty years, so Pakistan’s claims over Jammu and Kashmir have become irrelevant. I suggest the people of Jammu and Kashmir start showing solidarity with PoK and demand PoK as their legal part.
