The annual Bhandara, regarded as one of the largest in Kathua district, witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees and pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir as well as neighbouring states.
Addressing the gathering, the Minister lauded the organisers and volunteers for their dedicated efforts in ensuring smooth arrangements for devotees. He said such events reflect India's rich cultural and spiritual traditions while strengthening the values of compassion, communal harmony, brotherhood and selfless service.
Sharma said the tradition of seva remains one of the strongest pillars of Indian society, bringing people together beyond social and regional differences. He also reviewed arrangements for pilgrims, including food distribution, accommodation, drinking water, sanitation and medical facilities, appreciating the organisers for ensuring a safe and comfortable experience.
Later, the Minister visited The Farmers Market by Maple & Ivy at Jammu Tawi Golf Course, Sidhra, where local farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs and sustainable brands showcased fresh farm produce, handicrafts, organic products and eco-friendly innovations.
Interacting with exhibitors, Sharma stressed the need to strengthen local economies by creating better market opportunities for farmers, artisans and small entrepreneurs. He said promoting indigenous products and sustainable practices contributes to rural livelihoods, self-reliance and economic growth.
He reaffirmed the Government's commitment to supporting innovation in agriculture, value addition, youth entrepreneurship and technology-driven solutions while preserving Jammu and Kashmir's agricultural and artisanal heritage. He also urged citizens to support local producers, saying every purchase from them strengthens the region's economy.
Later in the day, Sharma paid floral tributes to Kargil War martyr Udhayman Singh at Jhiri on his Martyrdom Day.
Joining the martyr's family members, ex-servicemen and local residents, the Minister observed a moment of silence in honour of the brave soldier. He said the courage and sacrifice of the Kargil heroes continue to inspire the nation and called upon the youth to imbibe the values of patriotism, discipline and selfless service.
