Kulgam, Sep 17: Daily traffic congestion in the Khudwane area of Qaimoh in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district is causing severe inconvenience to commuters, with traffic movement reportedly remaining disrupted for hours.

Locals said the congestion has become a regular problem, leaving patients and their attendants travelling to hospitals in Anantnag and Srinagar facing prolonged delays.

Ambulances, school buses, government employees and other commuters are also reportedly getting stuck in lengthy queues on a daily basis.

Residents said the traffic bottleneck has persisted despite repeated disruptions, alleging that no effective measures have been taken to ensure smooth movement of vehicles through the area.

The prolonged jams are affecting people dependent on public and private transport for routine travel. Delays involving ambulances have also raised concerns among attendants accompanying patients to hospitals outside Kulgam district.

Locals have urged the Motor Vehicles Department and the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Kulgam, to strengthen traffic regulation and take measures to ease congestion in the area.

They have also appealed to the district administration to ensure that emergency vehicles, particularly ambulances carrying patients, can pass through the congested stretch without prolonged delays.
