Hari Parigam, Tral, Nov 15: Deep grief has gripped the village of Hari Parigam after the tragic death of Javaid Ahmad Rather, also known as Mubashir, son of Mansoor Ahmad Rather, in the accidental explosion at Nowgam Police Station on Friday night. Javaid, a cameraman with the J&K Crime Branch, was among nine personnel and officials killed while handling recovered explosive material linked to an ongoing investigation.
Locals gathered in large numbers to pay tribute, describing Javaid as humble, dedicated, and highly respected. “He was the pride of our village,” said neighbour Abdul Rashid. “Always soft-spoken, always ready to help anyone. We still cannot believe he is gone.”
Irfan Ahmad, another resident, recalled his professional integrity: “He never hesitated, no matter how tough the assignment was. Serving the department with honesty was his responsibility. Today, the entire village feels shattered.” Women in the locality spoke of the void left behind. “His mother is inconsolable. Javaid was her strength. He was too young to leave this world like this,” said a local woman.
Neighbours highlighted his calm disposition and commitment, emphasizing the respect he earned across Tral. “A man with such a pure heart did not deserve such an end,” one resident said.
The Nowgam Police Station blast claimed nine lives, including an SIA officer, FSL experts, revenue officials, and photographers, while more than thirty others were injured. Javaid was on duty when the explosion occurred during the handling of volatile material connected to a terror-related investigation.
The people of Hari Parigam have appealed for full support to the bereaved family and prayed for strength for them to endure this heartbreaking loss.
